Headstones typically consist of two main pieces - the upright portion (die or tablet) and the bottom portion (base). Flower vases can be added on one or both ends.

You don't have to have just a serp top-styled stone. One of the other options are slant styled stones. These can be customized with or without a base and vases. They also can have the option of being all polish or have rock pitch just as the Clark stone shows in the photo here.

Some cemeteries only allow bevel, or flat grass markers (Also known as flush markers). A flush marker in many cases can also be added in front of an existing stone to add a new family member or to add more personal information for an existing member. Flush and bevel markers can be just as beautiful as a traditional upright stone.
